If You've Ever Asked...
How can I gain a true consensus?
You'll know you have a consensus when the decision is actively
honored and defended by all parties. A true consensus takes time
to develop without coercion, but pays off by many measures.
Why shouldn't I run my own meeting?
The hallmark of an effective meeting is full participation which
leads to action. When an attendee runs the meeting, they are also
filling two roles - attending and agendizing. This usually leads
to two unintended and unproductive effects:
The person running the meeting doesn't participate.
The person overpowers the other agenda interests.
Both work against full participation and getting consensus -
which is the best fuel for ACTION.
How can I build trust in my organization?
Be aware to match actions with words. Trust is a precious and
valuable commodity. Preserve and build it in all you do.
How can I get people to participate?
Take the time to make a safe environment which values input and
opinions fully shared. Design a way to support genuine interests.
Safe means unhampered by retribution, formal or informal, just
for expressing ideas.
I will work to make it happen for you.
